The ROI math, plainly

If Path Unbound helps you land a $75K UI/UX role even 3 months earlier than a lighter program would, you’ve recouped the $4K price difference roughly 4× over in your first year. Whether that math works depends on your specific career timeline — that’s exactly what the clarity call is for.

Student Testimonials

From students who considered both

Real stories from people who looked at Avocademy alongside Path Unbound — and one who tried a lighter program first before switching.

I started with a cheaper program because of the price tag, but after three months I realized the feedback wasn’t deep enough to build a portfolio that competed with design school grads. I switched to Path Unbound and landed a Senior UI/UX designer role a few months after. I wish I’d started here the first time.

Teresa M.

Industrial Designer to Senior UI/UX Designer

I deliberated between Avocademy and Path Unbound for almost a month. What tipped it was the 1:1 mentorship. I knew I’d lose momentum without weekly accountability. The cost difference paid for itself by the time I had a portfolio strong enough to interview.

Mattias L.

Customer Service Representative to UX Designer

I had tried for months to remake my portfolio on my own. I kept feeling lost. Path Unbound was the push I needed and I’m glad I did it.The response from recruiters after I updated my portfolio was night and day. I started receiving multiple offers.

FAQs

The questions people actually ask

Real questions from prospective students — answered honestly.

It depends on what you need from the program. If you’re switching careers and need a portfolio that competes with design-school graduates for full-time roles, the depth Path Unbound provides — 1:1 mentorship, dedicated portfolio coaching, personalized career services — typically pays for itself within months of landing a role. If you just want to learn the basics, that level of investment is overkill. The honest test: are you trying to land a job, or are you trying to learn a skill?

Start with our on-demand learning at $29/month. It uses the same designer-written curriculum without the weekly synchronous sessions. If you want to upgrade to the full School of UI/UX Design later, your progress carries over.

We have a structured refund policy (see our refund policy) and offer scholarships for qualifying applicants. We don’t offer a “job guarantee” because, candidly, the bootcamps that do typically have so many fine-print conditions that the guarantee is meaningless. We’d rather show you our actual placement data and methodology so you can make an informed decision.

A 4-year degree gives you broader theoretical depth and a brand on your resume. Path Unbound gives you focused, employer-relevant UI/UX preparation in months instead of years, at a fraction of the cost.

Yes. We work with mid-program switchers regularly — we’ll review what you’ve covered already and adjust your plan so you’re not paying to repeat material. About 1 in 6 of our students started somewhere else before switching to us. Book a clarity call and we’ll map out the path.

That’s roughly half our students. We have a Visual Design Foundation pathway specifically for people switching from non-design fields, and the curriculum starts from first principles — no prior design experience assumed.
