Brand Identity Design
- Intermediate to Advanced
Learn to build complete brand identity systems — from brand strategy and logo design to a final style guide — and offer branding as a professional client service.
About This Course
6 Units From brand foundations and logo design to personal branding and a final client-ready project
Real-World Projects Every Unit
Build an actual brand identity system from scratch — not exercises, not mockups. A complete, deliverable portfolio piece.
Built for Working Designers
This course assumes you already design. It teaches you how to deliver brand identity as a professional client service.
Who This Course Is For
1
UI/UX Designers Who Get Asked to "Do Branding Too"
You’re already doing product and interface work, but clients keep asking about brand. This gives you a structured, professional process to say yes — and charge for it.
2
Designers Ready to Expand Their Service Offering
You want to move beyond screens and take on brand identity projects, but you’ve never had a formal framework for it. This is that framework.
3
Freelancers Who Want to Raise Their Rates
Brand identity commands higher project fees than other design work. This course gives you the skills and portfolio proof to justify the increase.
4
Designers Who Want a Stronger Personal Brand
The final module applies everything you’ve learned to yourself — your logo, your visual system, your brand story. You graduate with your own brand refined.
What You Will Learn
Think Like a Brand Strategist
Understand brand identity at a strategic level — the difference between brand, identity, and logo — and how to lead a client through the process with confidence.
Run the Complete Research and Discovery Process
Conduct brand research, define brand personality and story, map touchpoints, and create moodboards that align strategy with visual direction.
Build a Full Brand Identity System
Design logos, color palettes, typography systems, and photography guidelines that work together as a cohesive, professional deliverable.
Create Client-Ready Brand Guidelines
Produce a complete brand guide — the document real clients expect at the end of a branding engagement. Build one from scratch as a portfolio piece.
Analyze Real-World Brands Critically
Study how T-Mobile, McKinsey, and Starbucks built and evolved their brands — and learn from both successful rebrands and cautionary failures.
Develop Your Own Personal Brand
Apply every skill to yourself: your visual identity, your bio, your logo, and your brand beyond design. Graduate with your professional presence fully refined.

Projects
Unit 1
Brand Design Foundation
Build the strategic layer that every visual decision should rest on. You’ll learn the difference between brand, identity, and logo; run brand research; define brand story and personality; map touchpoints; and create the moodboard that will guide the entire project.
Unit 2
Brand Design Components
Turn your strategy into a visual system. You’ll build a logo guide, color guide, typography guide, photography guide, and additional brand elements — then compile them into a complete brand guidelines document.
Unit 3
Logo Design
Learn what separates a successful logo from a forgettable one. You’ll study letterform marks, pictorial marks, and emblems; follow a structured design process; and learn how to create logo variations and responsive scaling for real-world use.
Unit 4
Branding Case Studies
Analyze how three global brands — T-Mobile, McKinsey & Company, and Starbucks — built and evolved their visual identities. Then study a successful rebrand against a failed one and extract the lessons that apply to your own client work.

What Students Say
Our course has helped designers get to the next level of their career
I am a designer at a creative agency. We recently got a lot more branding projects that our other designers are too busy to work on. I’ve beem more of a generalist so my manager asked me to look into taking a brand design course. I’m so glad I found this one here because it’s literally everything I need for my job! It’s easy to understand with great examples and hands-on projects.
Brianna T.
Graphic Designer at Creative Agency
I’m a freelance designer and I normally work on web design projects. Lately, my clients have asked me if I could also do their rebrand. It would be foolish to turn down work but I really haven’t done branding so I looked into taking a course. After doing some research, I landed on this course and I’ve been loving the experience. It’s comprehensive, straight to the point, and easy to follow along.
Jenna K.
Freelance Designer
I’ve been working as a UI/UX designer for a few years now, so I’ve been wanting to revamp my portfolio and build a really strong personal brand. I didn’t know where to start because my previous portfolio was really just a template. When I came across this course, I looked at the syllabus and knew it’s what I was looking for. Now I can not only improve my personal brand but also add it as a new skillset for clients!

FAQs
Do I need a design background to take this course?
Yes — this course is built for practicing designers. It assumes you’re already comfortable with design tools and principles. If you’re brand new to design, we’d recommend starting with Visual Design Foundation first.
What tools will I use?
The course is tool-agnostic for strategy and brand development. Logo and identity design projects are best completed in a vector tool like Figma, Illustrator, or your preferred software.
What will I have at the end?
You’ll have a complete brand identity system built across your unit projects, a finished brand guidelines document, a personal brand, and a final client-ready case study for your portfolio.
How is this different from a general graphic design course?
This course focuses specifically on brand identity as a professional client deliverable — the strategy process, the system thinking, and the documentation that clients expect. It’s not about general design skills; it’s about a specific, billable service.
Is this course self-paced?
Yes. All content is available on-demand. You move through it on your own schedule. In addition, if you purchase the full course (not the self study option), you will also have 5 instructor sessions available for you to book on your own schedule. Your instructor will critique and review your projects with you live online.
Can I get feedback on my projects?
Yes. If you purchase the full course (not the self-study option), you will also have 5 instructor sessions available for you to book on your own schedule. Your instructor will critique and review your projects with you live online. If you purchase the self-study option, you will be able to purchase instructor review sessions a la carte as you need at $80/per hour per session.
Do I get a discount on your courses if I purchase multiple?
Yes, we provide discounts for certain courses if they care purchased together. They are usually courses that are related to each other, each time you enroll in a course, you will see which other courses you can enroll in for a discount in the checkout page.
If you want to receive a bulk discount for purchasing 3 or more courses, please contact us in the contact page. We can provide a custom discount for you.
Should I take a standalone course or enroll in your career program?
It depends on your needs. If you are already working as a designer and would like to uplevel your skillsets, we recommend taking individual courses as you need.
If you are a new designer looking to break into the field and get your first job or client as a designer, we recommend our School of Design career program or combine an upskilling course with Portfolio School if you want to build your portfolio with the knowledge you learned at the course – you do not want to show any knowledge gap in your interview and portfolio.
Ready to Add Brand Identity to Your Design Services?
Brand identity is one of the most requested skills clients look for — and one of the least systematically taught. This course gives you the strategy, the process, and the portfolio proof to offer brand identity as a full professional service.
